Day 13- Halloween

M ended up with a soccer ball, $12 and a huge bucket full of candy- from 4 houses. This kid is "loved". Not spoiled because that implies something is wrong with it. :)

I painted my nails and was rather pleased at how they came out. Thought I would share-

Day 12- playgroup Halloween party

I'm so glad M gets to get out and play with other kids.

They did a pumpkin hunt, watched dry ice smoke and then played with the pumpkins. He actually took a nap today, which is a bonus :-)

Day 11: crafts

I tried 2 different times today to get M to do Halloween crafts but he was not interested. He likes craft sometimes but apparently he wasn't feeling crafty today. So today's activity was a bust. But we did eat dinner off of Halloween paper plates so I'm counting it :)

We also watched Hocus Pocus. M was less interested in it than the crafts-- but I did try to make today Halloweeny :)

Day 10: pumpkin pictures in the park

Yesterday we took M's birthday pictures in a beautiful park. I CANNOT WAIT to see them. M was a little grumpy at first because he had fallen asleep in the car and i had to wake him up. But he warmed up and eventually started smiling so I'm pretty sure we got some good ones.

What does this have to do with the thirteen days of Halloween? Well, honestly not much. She did take a few of him with pumpkins so it wasn't *that* big of a stretch. But 13 days of Halloween is harder than I thought. For a couple of the days we haven't had the money for what I wanted to do so I have had to scramble at the last minute. Hopefully, with C's new job that won't be a problem from now on.

Anyway- pictures to come when I get them. :-)

13 days of Halloween day 6- Halloween movies

M is getting a tooth (or teeth). He had a little fever and was very cuddly today. So for our 13 days of Halloween, we watched Halloween movies, read Halloween books and ate junk food.

I didnt take a picture, mostly because we are still in our pajamas and how interesting is a pic of us watching tv. And also because he's been in my lap *ALL* day-  he won't get far enough from me for me to actually take a picture anyway. :)

13 days of Halloween: day 3- pumpkin patch

Today we joined our playgroup at a pumpkin patch. They had a small hay maze that M loved. He did it over and over again. They had a ventriloquist too but he wasn't that interested in her. We rode the hay ride and picked out pumpkins. He was so cute picking a pumpkin-I think he picked up every pumpkin there. He finally settled on 2 really small ones. I think we will have to visit another pumpkin patch so he can get one big enough to carve.

13 days of Halloween: day 5- mummy dogs

Tonight's thing wasn't a huge deal, we just had mummy dogs for dinner.

I had a mom's night out to go to. It ended up being only me and another mom but I had fun. She did a Tarot card reading and it was pretty accurate. Very Halloweeny :)

13 days of Halloween: day 4- decorating a pumpkin

Today we decorated M's pumpkins that he picked out yesterday. He really enjoyed it and was concentrating so hard on his project. He really looked like he had a plan. While he was doing it, he would stop, shake his head and say no, no and start doing something else. I tried to get a video and of course he did it right when I gave up.

13 days of Halloween: day 2- bonfire

This was not my original plan for 13 days of Halloween, but B had friends over and they were building a fire, so we joined them. When I was a teenager we had fires all the time. C still loves it but it makes me so nervous with M. C let him throw a log in the fire. I know I had better just get used to all this dangerous stuff. M is fearless- there will be much more danger to come.

M was super cute roasting his hot dog. But it made m a little sad when he just sat down and ate his hot dog like such a big boy. :(

13 days of Halloween: day 1- Bass Pro Shops

For the first day of the thirteen days of Halloween, we went to Bass Pro Shops and M got his picture made with The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown background and did a little trick-or-treating. It was pretty disorganized so we spent a lot of time wandering around trying to find the people with the candy. But I'm glad we went because he got the idea that people were going to put candy in his bucket :-)

M's Halloween costume

I'm not a big fan of store bought costumes. I made most of b's until he was too old.

Last year M was a jack-o-lantern that I made in sewing class. This year I wanted him to be a scarecrow. I'm trying to do all the classics before he's old enough to have an opinion.

I thought I would just throw it together- I was wrong. It took quite a bit longer than I expected, but I am so pleased at how it turned out.

My cup runeth over

C starts his new job today. He should be waking up any minute, but I'm surprised he got any sleep at all. He was really nervous yesterday. I think he feels extra pressure starting this job because it will be the most responsibility he's ever had. He's going to have crews under him.

As for me, I'm excited beyond words that we will now have money to pay our bills and have money left over to actually live and do fun stuff and buy whatever M needs.

B was here yesterday. I just love that boy so much. I can't believe how grown up he is. He is so sweet with M. M wanted B to drive him around and around on the four-wheeler-- and he did. <3

I feel like everything is working out- I hope C has a fantastic day at work and just loves it there. He needs a job that he loves after spending a year at his last job.

This is a very rare picture of B actually smiling.

The State Fair of Texas

Let me start this post by saying we LOVE the fair. Not like we kind of like it, or we look forward to it a little. We love the fair. We try all kinds of yummy food, look at the cars and most importantly- spend time together.

This year, it was extra special because as we were getting out if the car, C got called with a job offer. This job pays about $15,000 more than he made before. We were on top of the world as we went in.

This was m's first time at the fair and he seemed to like it. We went in the evening, which we won't do next year with M because a lot of the kid's stuff was closed when we got to it. The hands on farm was open, and he looked so cute in his little apron. At the end, he got a little dollar and he got to trade it in for cookies.

Ten, eleven, twelve

Yesterday was my last birthday in my 20's. As I was trying to fall asleep the night before, they were playing songs from high school on cmt pure vintage. Its official, I'm getting old.

We ate lunch at my favorite restaurant. C planned to surprise me by taking me to the Dallas Museum of Art because I have been saying I wanted to go. But Nana's sister fell and she needed to go help her and her father in the er.

I ended up with two cakes and a yummy chocolate chip cookie sandwich, so overall it was a good birthday. All I wanted was for someone to think of me, and C and Nana did a great job of making me feel special.

Storytime

We haven't been to storytime in WAY too long because I really dislike the whole way our town's library does it. So today we went to A Real Bookstore to give theirs a try. I was a little leary of going to a store because I pictured myself spending the whole time keeping him from pulling books off the shelf. But they actually had quite a bit of stuff out that they were supposed to play with so it worked out.

They read a book about a scarecrow- which I was glad to see because he is going to be a scarecrow for Halloween. He didn't listen to much of the story but he really enjoyed making a scarecrow and then he got a cookie. He's going through this little phase right now where he says no regardless of what you ask him. The lady chuckled when she asked if he liked his cookie and he said no with a mouthful. :)

Puzzles with daddy

Congrats Bailey

Today we threw a little get together for B because he made the bowling team at school. He was on the team last year, and he shot a 300 at practice for tryouts, so it was no shock he made it, but we wanted to celebrate.

When my mom asked me to get a little something together, of course I went straight to Pinterest. All the party ideas were more for 8 year old boys, not teenagers. So I was on my own. Gasp!
I found these awesome free clip arts online and was super excited. To me, they are way better than just bowling pins and bowling balls.

I used them as inspiration for the whole party.
The banner was made by printing the clip art onto sticker paper, and backing it with shades of red, orange and yellow to match the flames.
Then, I stuck the squares onto a clothes pin. Sooo easy to hang up. I will be doing them this way from now on.
I found this acrylic container on sale at Hobby Lobby. Its intended to be a personalized desk organizer, but it worked perfectly for silverware.
It was just clipart, sticker paper and black cardstock. I'm almost embarrassed how easy this all was. :)

Just a flame print bandana from Hobby Lobby and black plates from Dollar Tree.

I just printed this out on sticker paper, and stuck it right on the cup.  They looked better in person...

I'm pretty sure she just wanted me to bring cupcakes, but I saw an opportunity to make a fun party. :) I'm very pleased with how it came out.
Sparkling lemonade- Country Time lemonade mix made with 7up instead of water.  We all really loved it.
I was trying to do everything at the last minute and Nana helped. She formed the cheese ball into more of a loaf, but it was a huge hit non-the-less. Its coated with crushed cheese Doritos! 10 of us ate the whole thing in minutes.
I had never made tortilla roll ups before, but I'm going to be making them again. I combined several recipes and came up with a very yummy end product.

I tried and tried to get a good picture of M in showing his support in his bowling shirt, but he wasn't being very cooperative. But here he is.
