Jump Mania

It seems like we have these indoor bounce house places popping up all over the place around here. M is a big fan, so we try to go to different ones when we hear about them just to get a new experience. Today we went to one that was probably too far away to go all the time but was super fun. They have a toddler time and a lot of extra toys besides the bounce houses. I think m had more fun in the cozy coupe, play houses and kitchens than in the bounce houses. He was not a happy camper when it was time to leave. I'm really surprised no one called 911 because he was screaming bloody murder.

I'm a big fan of anything that keeps him active. And he had a great time playing with the air hockey table so all in all I'm glad we went.

The firefighters were so welcoming, I found myself asking questions and they seemed to love answering them. M had a great time but i think we will go back next year when he's a little older and even more interested in firemen. :)

Catch up post: glow stick bath

So, I'm completely obsessed with Pinterest. I love to try new recipes, find fun holiday things and most of all, see all the things people do to keep their kids entertained.

I think my favorite thing that I have seen so far is a glow stick bath. I mean, a bathtub full of glowsticks is just fun stuff.

He's taken a few, but I can never get a good picture because if I use the flash it doesn't look like its dark and if i don't use it then you can't see m. But this is the best I can do...

Catch up post: the Dallas Zoo

Last week we went to the zoo and it was the perfect day. I will say, I enjoy the zoo myself so I would like it amyway, but it is so much fun watching m learn and discover. The dallas zoo is perfect because everything is designed with kids in mind- even down to 2 sets of handrails on the steps so the little ones can hold on by themselves.

The weather was perfect, a little humid at times but much better than the 100 degrees it sometimes is in September. And best of all- it was not crowded at all! We had the whole place almost to ourselves.

My favorites were the penquins because they swam right up to the glass to check us out, and the giraffes because they come right up to you too. We could have reached out and petted it if any of us were sure it wasn't going to eat our hand off.

Heard Museum

We went to the Heard Museum today. I thought M  would like it because he loves being outside. What's better than a nature museum? But he is getting a tooth so he wasn't in the best mood. We looked around at the animals inside and he saw some snakes, which he loves, but didn't get as excited as I thought he would. We even saw one moving around and he only half-heartedly said "hisssss". We also saw butterflies, which was pretty cool. And we walked around on the trail and saw a few dinosaurs.

Overall, it was much better than sitting at home so I'm glad we went. I think we may go back one day when its cooler and he isn't teething and give it a second chance.

a fresh start for my blog :)

I have decided its time to start blogging again so I can keep track of all the memories we are making now. I know that my old blogs ended up being more of a journal of a dark time, but from now on it will be more positive.  I'm upset about all the things I missed blogging about in the almost year since I have blogged. Maybe I will do some catch up ones. :)

isolation

I love being a stay at home mom.  Maverick doesn't have to go to daycare with strangers, and we get to spend time together and make memories. Its really amazing watching him learn and grow and by being a sahm, I never have to miss anything. So for the most part, its a pretty great job. 

BUT, the downside of being a STAY AT HOME mom, is the staying at home most of the time. Me and Christopher are sharing a car right now, and by sharing I mean he has it 99% of the time. When I thought about being home with Maverick I was thinking about going to Gymboree and story time and the zoo and all these wonderful things. But in reality, Gymboree is 89 dollars a month for 4 classes, story time is before we wake up, and its been too cold to go to the zoo. 

I'm really feeling the stress of the isolation from other adults. Christopher is working all the time, and we are both too tired so the meaningful conversations are few and far between. I tried to join a few playgroups on meetup.com, but most of them don't have activities for a 14 month old. I think it will be better after May because Maverick will be 18 months and there is a lot more he can do then, like classes through the city and playing at the indoor bounce house place... 

Apparently Maverick is feeling it too. He was looking out the window so sadly, like he just wanted to go out there. So, my goal is to actually wake up and take C to work so I can have the car and get out and do some stuff! Wish me luck :-)
